It’s been a busy week saving the world at Green Festivals… and tonight I pack to drive to Florida in the morning. I had a trip planned to Orlando for the Disney Princess Half Marathon but thought about calling it off when I started my new job. Unfortunately I recently got news that my mom is going in for a pretty intense surgery in the morning. When I knew my mom would be under the knife I immediately decided that I couldn’t not be there for her.
So, I head to Florida in the morning for a comfy 10 hour drive.
In honor of the week that seems it robs me of hours each day, I want to introduce you to a new source of peace in my life: my yoga room.

Richard cleaned out our spare bedroom and created a blissful yoga room so I could have a space ‘that felt like it was all mine.’ To say I love it is an understatement.

In the day time the light shines through the two windows. At night I practice yoga in the dark, with just moonlight shining through. Sometimes I’ll go lie down on the mat and just stare at the ceiling to think.

In case I pass up yoga for some strength training, running or biking, all of my belongings are organized in baskets in a nook.

Aaaaaand in the case I have a few minutes I can get a little back massage after practice.
The room is so beautiful that I hardly notice the large collection of boxes I have to unpack and things to donate to Goodwill.
How do you appreciate the little things when life gets busy?

What a heavenly room. I love yoga in the dark.
I got to yoga class early today and the room was still. The few of us there just lay in savasana for a while before the teacher came in. The lights were low, the music was soft and I thought “if she never starts class and we just lie here for an hour, it will have been perfect.”
Of course she came in and we had a lovely class, but the 10 minutes of peace before it started was such a nice way to transition from a busy day into our yoga practice.
Wow! That room is off the chain!
When life gets too busy, I make time for a run. Always. That and hot yoga do the trick.
I think the key is making “me time.”
I love your yoga room! Our spare bedroom is the yoga/xbox room. Ugh men!
That room is so great. Have you thought about maybe selling the stuff you’re donating to good will? You could have an auction on the blog and then donate the money to goodwill. I’m sure it would make even more. Just curious!
I love to read. That’s my own world. It always has been. When I was younger and had no friends I would make friends with my books. That an art are what make me enjoy my time alone and really let me decompress.
I usually don’t have time to breath. Skipped the gym today and nooshed on my famous guac.
I’d rather me fat then miserable! Guac always brightens up my day!
That’s really interesting because %40 of 9-11 year olds are on diets, and many say they would rather have cancer or lose there parents then ever be fat. Most grown women say they would rather be hit by a truck than be fat or ugly.
What a nice room!
I tend to appreciate the things like being able to get a quality education, even if it’s hard sometimes.
A room solely for yoga?! That is so awesome! I’d love a room like that!
Megan
I would love to have a room like that! Enjoy it
ahhhh!!! would be awesome to have a room like that too!!!
Love your Yoga room!!
I hope your mom is ok!
That first picture is adorable. The older dog is totally giving Norman the stink eye for trying to take the stick.
Have a safe trip!
AAAAH belated congrats on the new job! How cool does that sound?! So happy for you. And wow Asheville sounds so stinking cute. I secretly want to visit.
But more importantly best wishes to your mom and for her surgery. Thoughts with you.
ugh so jealous! Do you know how long I’ve wanted a yoga room? The closest thing I have is a little table in front of a huge window in my living room that has my bonsai tree and various buddah statues on it. I sit in front of it and meditate every morning. I wish I had a whole room!
I hope your moms surgery goes well. I’m so glad you have a space to do yoga and relax
In our future house, I would like to have a room that is specifically for exercising in!
When life gets busy, I read. It makes me forget about everything else and I get to live in a different world for a while
Have a safe trip!
That rooms looks so peaceful!
I’m sending happy thoughts to your mom and your family!
wow I’m jealous of your “solitary space”! I’m taking a Buddhist Meditation class right now and in one of the books we’re reading it says to have a place to meditate without distractions. too bad my single is so small!! I like to meditate on the little things in my life, when I can find the time : )
I love your yoga room! That is what I want to do with the second bedroom in my next apartment
Although my bf wants a man cave… we’ll see how that goes
