Vegan Eats and Princess Things

by healthy ashley on February 28, 2011

I visited Florida this weekend to be with my mom for a serious surgery (she’s doing well now!) and run the Disney Princess Half Marathon that I signed up for months ago. It was a busy weekend squeezing it all in but I had a blast!

Saturday morning I left my family in Tampa to join Ryan in Orlando. We visited the Disney Princess Half Marathon race expo to pick up our packets and check out the vendors!

IMG_0162.JPG

Honestly the expo was small and not worth a trip if you weren’t picking up a race packet. The exhibitors basically consisted of running clothes vendors and Disney tents. Still, it did the job to get us excited for the race!

After the expo we stopped by Babycakes in Downtown Disney. Babycakes is based in NYC and has amazing vegan and gluten-free treats.

I got a cookie sandwich with icing in the center. Delicious! There’s something so different and addicting about their creamy icing.

For our pre-race dinner we headed to Dandelion.

We shared vegan nachos (holy yum) and I had an order or spring rolls with a peanut-coconut sauce. Filled us up deliciously!

There’s apparently no such thing as too much dessert. Ryan and I proved that by visiting Rhapsodic before finally heading home. I enjoyed a unique oatmeal raisin cookie dough cupcake. I love Orlando’s vegan treats!

We woke up at 3:00 a.m. the next morning to run the Princess Half! Recap coming soon!

After the race we had one thing on our mind’s: Ethos Vegan Kitchen vegan brunch!!!

IMG_0212.JPG

Hello fresh orange juice, fruit, sausage and blueberry pancakes with Earth Balance and maple syrup. Delicious overload.

Obviously I enjoyed this very very much!

Our jam-packed day continued with some bridesmaid dress shopping for the wedding! I was lucky enough to get all four bridesmaids together to shop for their dresses. Our winners are from Anthropologie- the second store we visited!

We enjoyed Starbucks mid-shopping :) I had a iced coffee with soy and vanilla.

This weekend was laced in indulgence… further proven by our second stop to Babycakes!! I had a vanilla crunch donut and another cookie sandwich. The donut was very cake-like and the cookie was absolutely perfect.

Post-dessert dinner: a blurry Chipotle. We need this in Asheville!

What a weekend! Now I’m about to head to Orlando Power Yoga for an invigorating sweat before I make the long drive back to Asheville. It was an awesome weekend!

Considering that I’m eating cake (and it’s 9:30am) as I read your post, I am in no position to judge the amount of desserts in your weekend :)

Looks like fun, can’t wait to read the race recap!

I have the biggest sweet tooth. If I had that much access to wonderful vegan treats I would eat just as much if not more. Haha.

Wow-I had no idea Orlando was such a vegan mecca. Everything looks delicious! I want to plan a trip there solely to eat.

You’re right – you can never have too much dessert! :)
It’s great that you were able to get all your bridesmaids together – I bet you all had so much fun looking at dresses!

We need all of that stuff in Asheville! Tell them to move here, too :)

Have a safe drive home!

What’s wrong with enjoying such delicious desserts, particularly after running a half-marathon! I’d have devoured that cookie sandwich in about ten seconds. It’s the spring rolls that really appeal to me though. Why oh why is vegan food so hard to come by in the UK outside of London (well, GOOD vegan food anyway!)

Can’t wait for the race recap :)

Glad you hear your mum is doing ok. I will send her some healing vibes. I love Anthropologie so much that I avoid it! I want everything, and it gets too dangerous :)

Wow. Orlando has so many vegan spots! I wish my town had at least one! I’ve heard of Babycakes and it is on my list of places to eat when I visit NYC (or Orlando!).
Looks like you had a nice weekend with friends and yummy food! I’m glad your moms surgery went well :)
