April 25th began the two month countdown to our wedding. The pressure is on! To celebrate the upcoming big day, here’s a rundown of a few of the wedding details we’re excited about.
If we’re dragging people to Asheville to watch us say “I do,” I’m going to make sure they have a true Asheville experience. This 40-acre farm with a big red barn is the perfect place for our country summer wedding.
I love the idea of elaborate, gorgeous invitations that could be framed. But the reality is that invitations will eventually get thrown out and all those extra papers and costly stamps end up in a landfill. Bridesmaid Janna designed a one-sheet invite that we printed for pennies via VistaPrint with our photos on the backside and a website address for RSVPs. I emailed a Google Form to our family and friends so they add their name and mailing address- creating a simple, organized and easy spreadsheet that can be printed onto labels. Less time, less cost and less impact on the environment.
Our wedding is more fun than tradition so of course we chose cupcakes over a more traditional cake. Continuing with the vegan wedding, our cupcakes will be in three different flavors: carrot cake (!!), triple chocolate and vanilla with a fruit twist. We’ll have 100 cupcakes on an Anthro-style display stand. Local co-op Firestorm Cafe is handling the sweet treats. (photo)
I have four wonderful friends as bridesmaids: Sarah, Janna, Ryan (Maid of Honor!) and Katy. These girls rock. I can’t spoil the surprise and show you the dresses, but it was instant love for everyone when Ryan found them on the sale rack at Anthro. They all got matching jewelry to match! The dresses aren’t what I’ve seen in the past, but they’re fun and totally set the colors and tone of the decor.
Denver-based photographer Chris Humphreys has it all. And he captures beautiful moments on print like the photo above. We can’t wait to meet Chris in person and have him in Asheville for this exciting weekend.
Everything else? Let’s just say TBD. In the end, it’ll all come together.
