Five Days

Fact: Our wedding is going to be a blast.

Sure, I may have cursed wedding planning here and there. Maybe I considered ditching the wedding and bringing my groom to the courthouse. Maybe we have no money left. But this weekend is going to be awesome.

Yesterday we visited our venue to go over some last minute details and said hello to our new friends before heading out. Donkeys as wedding guests? Yes, please!

This last week of wedding planning has been the least stressful and most enjoyable. At this point it’s do or don’t do. There’s less filler and more getting done. Now we’re on to the fun stuff like ceremony programs and reception layout, too!

Thanks for keeping posted while I stray away from my blog for a bit to enjoy the moment.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding?

Mine is always the groom’s face as the bride walk’s down the aisle. I think his face says it all. I can’t wait to see Richard’s face Saturday!

I enjoyed the time before my wedding too! I love the moment that I walked up to the isle – I had already seen the hubby at the first look – so it was just seeign it all together, surrounded by everyone I loved and him at the end!! Beautiful moment!! :)

So excited, I can’t wait for the recap!

We recently got married (November 2011) so I can vividly remember my two favourite parts of the wedding:

1) When the Husband broke down crying in the middle of his vows. Particularly in the place where he said “you are my best friend.” Swoon.

2) During the reception (we had an elegant ocean side reception in Los Cabos, Mexico) when I looked at our guests thoroughly enjoying themselves, heard the waves crashing, and looked up to see the swaying palm trees and shimmering stars. That was the moment when I drank it all in. Realized I was living a wonderful fairytale. And seriously had to pinch myself. That magic even was my wedding. And I loved it!!!

I guess the best advice I can give you (although I know you didn’t ask for it) is to make sure you drink it all in. Take mental snapshots of the event.

Remember it forever! :)

congratulations! i always said the groom’s face moment was my favorite part of a wedding too, although at my own outdoor garden wedding it was so sunny that he could hardly see me – i walked down the aisle to my husband smiling and squinting at me. he could hardly see me until i was right in front of him!

my favorite moment was right after we got pronounced and walked back down the aisle – you get a few minutes to breathe and just be alone with your new spouse, and it’s really sweet :) glad you’re feeling calm and zen – keep it up!

I just found your blog via Twitter. Congrats on your big day. My favorite moment of a wedding is watching the bride walk down the aisle and seeing the groom’s face as well. For me, the planning has had its ups & downs but I’ve enjoyed spending time with my mom and my sister. I live two hours away from them so this has definitely given us more time together.

I am so excited for you, Ashley. Have an absolutely amazing wedding and we’re all expecting a FULL report on it after the big event after things have calmed down :)

Congratulations on finding and marrying the love of your life – I think that far too many people go through life without ever finding that. Such a happy happy occasion!

OOOOH I just got chills of excitement for you. I love weddings and I think you’re definitely right: the best part is the groom’s face when he sees the bride for the first time, all dolled up for her wedding.

Can’t WAIT for your photos. :) xoxo
