Today was all about winding roads, country music and open windows. I drove from Asheville to Meganerd‘s house in Baltimore. I’m staying with Megan for a few days while I work at the Logan Circle lululemon (excited!) and attend Landmark Forum in Virginia. It should be a great, busy long weekend.

The best way to get through an eight hour drive- ahem…. ten hours with DC traffic- is to take the time to enjoy it. I took the opportunity to explore this scenic overlook with a hike in Tennessee. The view was worth the steep climb.

I eventually arrived at Megan’s house in Baltimore! Sana was over before I knew it and we were off to dinner at Great Sage. The girls set high expectations about this vegan restaurant.

This place has it all- a tantalizing menu, awesome decor and solid values. The staff was great too!

After a long day of less-than-great eating in the car I settled on the Thai ‘Chicken’ Salad (soba noodles!!!). The promise of the girl’s sharing their dishes won me over!

Dinner began with bread dipped in olive oil with vinegar. Mmmm.

My entree was incredible! The soba noodles were full of flavor. It was so decadent that forgot it was called a salad in the first place.

Sana shared more than one little plate of her mac ‘n cheese. Love her.

My love for carrot cake must shine through because before we even ordered our meals Sana was convinced I was going to order the carrot cake. Carrot cake owns my heart. Great Sage’s carrot cake was smooth and sweet with the perfect amount of spice. And so much icing!!!

Now we’re off to figure out my game plan to get to Logan Circle in DC tomorrow morning. Having to be somewhere at a certain time stresses me out when I don’t know how to get there. I’m going to leave plenty early so I can arrive to the store a little more zen

Do you like road trips? How do you handle a long time sitting down?

I love road trips! The only way I can handle sitting down for that long is with LOTS of snacks. I get a little panicky if I get hungry in the middle of nowhere

Yours was the first post I opened from my G Reader this morning and it’s just what I needed! I woke up dreading a five hour solo drive I’m doing this afternoon, but now I’m going to try to enjoy it for what it is not just put up with it as the means to an end. I’m also now really excited for a weekend of eating good food!
Have a great time in Baltimore and tell Megan I said hi! I want to meet her one day when I’m in DC.
I LOVE road trips. Getting to see the whole country by car is wonderful to me. Kelley absolutely hates it. We’re driving to Destin, FL for the ironman (13 hours each way) with a layover in atlanta. Should be fun.

I absolutely LOVE roadtrips! For some reason I don’t mind sitting in the car… as long as I’m the one driving! I do love stopping off at random places that I see along the way, no matter how tacky or touristy they might be!

I used to feel ambivalent towards road trips, but when I discovered books on tape it revolutionized the experience (I use ‘em for long runs, too).

You’re doing the Forum!?
Life changing! You will LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it times a million. My family has been involved with Landmark for about 13 years. Its a great tool, very empowering. Enjoy!
Can’t wait to hear all about your “transformation!”
I love Great Sage! The salad you had is one of my favorites. The chocolate lava cake however is to-die-for…oh my gosh, I want one right now. Have fun while you’re here in DC! Stay safe though with the crazy weather that’s coming through.

What a fun blogger dinner with 3 ladies I love! The craziest thing is that I was actually just at Great Sage two weekends ago. I went to a wedding in MD and stopped by Roots Market on my way home. I saw Great Sage and was intrigued by the decor and menu, but it wasn’t open. Next time I’m in MD I’ll have to actually eat there.
Hope you are staying safe in DC/MD this weekend lady.

My husband and I stopped at that same overlook on our way back to DC from my cousin’s wedding in Asheville last summer! Too funny. It was quite the hike, but totally worth the views. That area is so gorgeous. The route through TN is definitely the way to go!
