Karis’s Sex Balls

Richard and I headed to downtown Waynesville to walk Puppy and soak up some of the fall weather. It was nice to get out of the house and spend time with two of my favorite men.

The main street is packed with antique shops, outdoor havens and boutique food stores. We stopped at a dog bakery to get Puppy a special treat. His 1st birthday is next week! (Puppy chose one of the big bones.)

After dinner and a drink (Disaronno and soy milk) I decided it was time to finally make Karis’s Sex Balls. Karis and I worked together at the Orlando lululemon she brought in these sex balls. It was my first introduction to maca root powder; maca has tons of health benefits and is known to be an aphrodisiac.

Karis wrote the recipe on a Post-It note and for the past year it’s been on my fridge. The recipe:

Karis’s Sex Balls

2 tbsp agave

2 oz cacao powder

2 heaping tbsp maca powder

8 oz nut butter

*roll balls in powder sugar*

I eyeballed measurements and mixed and tested as I went. I rolled the end result into tiny balls and coated them in powdered sugar. For good measure I stuck the plate in the freezer for an hour to help them set.

The balls are rich and not to sweet with a wonderful nutty flavor. They’re pretty healthy, too- healthy fats and protein from the nut butter, antioxidants from raw cacao powder… and the maca of course!

Well, this post title got my attention! I bought some maca (in capsule form), but have yet to give it a try. I recently transitioned off of the pill and want to let my body kind of sort itself out before adding anything new into the mix. Do you regularly take maca? Wondering what you think of it.

I take a raw maca powder just about every day in my smoothies! It has a yummy nutty flavor and gives me added energy and nutrients. I think it’s natural enough to take during big times like getting off the Pill.

That’s what I was going to suggest – I blend a protein powder that always includes a healthy dose of maca. Love it. It’s overall healthy but the aphrodisiac benefit is thought to effect man moreso than women.
