I had a long run planned for today. I was all packed to run after work and I was psyched up for it. My stomach had different plans so I took the afternoon to rest, postponing the anticipated run to tomorrow. A short nap and two Midol later and I was at our CrossFit box for Richard‘s Filthy 5:30 Friday workout. Each Friday at 5:30pm he comes up with a crazy workout for the most insane members. It’s a blast.

Today’s WOD was 12 Days of Christmas to which he added on a 13th day (13 overhead lunges). The WOD works just like the song: complete 1, then 2-1, then 3-2-1 and so on. I warmed up with a 500 meter row and some active stretching.

My pelvis is still uneasy with lots of weight so I chose the alternate WOD to avoid so much heavy lifting.
12 Days of Christmas, Alt.:
1 Burpee
2 Lunges
3 Wallball
4 Slamball
5 Mountain Climbers
6 Goblet Squats
7 Thrusters
8 Air Squats
9 Push Press
10 Kettlebell Swings
11 Pushups
12 Ab Mats

Overall the workout took me 46 minutes 16 seconds. Honestly I took it slower to make sure I had energy for the last rounds. Those numbers add up quickly!
This is a great workout to complete at the gym or at home before your holiday dinners. Let me know if you take on the challenge!
Merry Christmas!

Always a tough one! Our gym does it but different movements. We joke that the 8 days of Hanukkah would have been more kind!
