You Know You’re a Blogger When…

…it’s all about you and that’s okay.

…your spouse knows who Kath, Tina and Caitlin are even if you’ve never done more than read their blogs.

…you’ve tried a 30 day challenge or went vegan, Paleo or gluten-free.

“And it occurred to me that there is no such thing as blogging. There is no such thing as a blogger. Blogging is just writing — writing using a particularly efficient type of publishing technology.” -Simon Dumenco

…you put salad in your smoothies and your oats in a jar.

…you know the difference between a tweet, Twitter, a DM, a RT and a tweep and roll your eyes when people confuse them.

…you stay up at night thinking of what oatmeal creation the morning will hold.

A novice blogger knows he can write about anything. A veteran blogger realizes he shouldn’t.

…you make your first $100 from advertising on your blog and feel rich, even though earning that meant 30 hours of work and $110 to set the blog up.

…half the photos on your iPhone are of food.

…you pain your nails so they look good on camera.

“I believe the term “blog” means more than an online journal. I believe a blog is a conversation. People go to blogs to read AND write, not just consume.” -Michael Arrington

…you eat weird foods and try new workouts that none of your friends have heard of.

…you hang out with new people and they ask if they’re going to “be on the blog.”

…you immediately edit your blog after a breakup.

“The bottom line is that blogging is like sex. You can’t fake it. You can’t fake passion. You can’t fake wanting to engage with the public. If you do, it will ultimately be an unsatisfying experience for both the blogger and their readers.” -Kevin Anderson

…you know you’re a blogger when you stop taking pictures for memories, and start taking them for the blog. -Laura

…when you choose to go out instead of sitting on the couch because the pictures are better. -Mary

…you take pictures of your placemat collection. -Stephanie

…your kids say, “I better not see that on the blog.” -Susan

Hiiiiilarious. And true!!!! I did choose my nail color yesterday based on if it would match my coffee cup I used for an instagram picture. Lame. And awesome. On a serious note, I like where you said, ‘A novice blogger knows he can write about anything. A veteran blogger realizes he shouldn’t.’

For the first few months, my husband would ask if I was going to blog about what we were doing. Now he just gets annoyed when I hand him the camera and pose.

Thanks for the shout out!

‘I believe the term “blog” means more than an online journal. I believe a blog is a conversation. People go to blogs to read AND write, not just consume.’

I have never kept a diary.

I have been blogging in various guises for nearly three years.

This is the reason why.

Love that picture of you, and your thoughts in this post.
