This weekend was full of sweat.

Saturday I finally tried my first bar class at Barre 54. It felt like a glam, low-sweat fusion of Pilates, ballet and yoga.
My lovely friend Sarah was teaching the class and made myself and the girls I went with feel welcome by explaining everything very clearly. The exercises were precise and targeted specific areas at a time.
Bar could never take the place of a run, ride or WOD, but I l-o-v-e-d it as a fun, more light-hearted addition to my sweat routine.
Have you taken bar class? What did you think?

After class at Barre 54 I headed out for a bike ride. I’ve been enjoying my classes and running so much that my poor bike hasn’t come out to play more than once a week. So many ways to sweat, so little time.

Right before I hopped on the bike I had a Vega Endurance Bar. Vega sent me some samples a while back and the brand quickly became a new serious addiction. My favorite is the Protein Bar in Chocolate SaviSeed. Better than a candy bar.

Before I even tasted the products I loved Vega for how much they know about plant-based nutrition. I learned so much from the small pamphlet they included with the samples and on their website. Everything they have is clearly labeled by when it’s most effective: before, during or after your workout. Most importantly, I love that everything in their products is there for a reason: to support my workout and help my body perform at its best on plant-based foods.
The Endurance Bar was fruity but not too sweet. it was tasty and I still felt light after eating it. This bar would be great in the middle of a long ride- tasty, nutritious and easy to digest.
I ended up riding almost 30 miles. The rain started right after I got back inside

After my workout I tried the Vega Performance Protein in Berry in my post-workout smoothie. I feel better faster and recover quicker when I consume a solid amount of protein right after a workout. What went in the VitaMix: strawberries, banana, ice, almond milk and the Vega protein.
The directions on the protein say to mix it with water. It’s quite sweet and flavorful on its own so adding it to my already sweet smoothie was a lot. I mixed in a little more ice and almond milk and had the most delicious smoothie. I just felt good afterward. Vega seems to digest really nicely in my irritable belly.
Have you tried any Vega products? What do you usually eat post-workout?

I love Vega! Their vanilla bean protein powder is my favorite. I also used their sports optimizer powder in my water when I was marathon training.
You must have taken the wrong barre class then.
The treats looks so tasty! Great job on your ride!
Where do you buy the Vega products?
They have them available online- and a list of places that carry it!

I recently purchased a living social deal for Pure Barre near my home in LA. I went to six classes – I liked it (the music especially) but it the cost isn’t worth it for me in the long run, but it was fun to fold into my running/spinning/weight routine for a couple of weeks!

Nope, never tried any Vega products – but I hear the protein powders are fantastic! Looking into them now for an extra boost in my oatmeal and smoothies
My bike has been feeling very neglected as well. I started going to a weekly yoga class and can’t really ride during the week. I finally got out on my bike on Sunday and it was glorious! Barre was fun! I also tried the Physique 57 DVDs for an at home experience. Super cool!
I’ve been trying the different Vega products lately trying to see if I will replace my trusty Rainbow Light protein powder. I find their flavors have a fake sweet taste almost like they use fake sweetener which I know they don’t. I had the chocolate this morning with some cherries and spinach. YUMMY!
bar class? Hmm. Look interesting and I have never heard about it before.. Anyway, thanks for this one..

I love it – so many ways to sweat, so little time!
I’m a big fan of protein after my long workouts – I use the Ultragen product by First Endurance, but it has milk proteins in it, unlike Vega products which are plant strong. I’m also a huge fan of eggs post workout, and always add flaxseed to my smoothies.

The endurance bar is actually one of the most unusual things I have seen here.. I have never heard about this before..

Ladies workout? Don’t know if you meant to sound like ladies don’t work hard like men or that our workouts are frilly or something but it did…pretty much bs

I’ve never taken a barre fitness class, but I used to take adult ballet lessons at the National Ballet School when I lived in Toronto. The classes were awesome and my instructor was fantastic. I loved taking it even thought I wasn’t very good : P
Why don’t you post as much as you used to? I love reading you’re blog
