The Racing Bug

Between living in North Carolina for a year and the accident, I relaxed my crazy racing schedule for a while. I’m so excited to share that I’ve added two marathons to my race schedule and am looking forward to a very busy October-December of this year!!

I signed up for the X-Country trail marathon (November 18) which was my first marathon in 2009. I also did it in 2010.

In 2010 I also ran the Space Coast marathon and loved the course, so I’m doing it again this year (November 25th)!

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you probably know that I’ve approached my races with a ‘just finish and have a good time’ attitude. This led to some super fun races… and some seriously under-trained, tough, disappointing finishes. Thanks to CrossFit I’ve adopted a new attitude toward training: set goals and push myself to be better.

I have a crazy fall racing schedule but I’m really excited to commit to the training the next few months and show some improvement on these races!

2012 Fall Schedule

October 20th- Great Floridian 140.6

November 18th- X-Country Marathon

November 25th- Space Coast Marathon

December 8th- Tallahassee Ultra Distance Classic 50 Miler

What races are you looking forward to?

You seem to thrive on crazy race schedules. I’m glad you are back at it. It’s not a race but I signed up for my first group ride. I signed up for the Ride 2 Recovery and am super excited. I can’t get anyone to go with me so I’m conquering a 2 fears at once and doing it by myself. I hope to find more of these rides for next year.

Wow that is a crazy race schedule! I’m excited about running my first full marathon in January! I’ve done a ton of halves and now I’m taking the plunge! I’ve got a few halves in Oct/Nov and a 30K in December to help me ramp up for the full! Good luck with all your racing :)

I have lived in OR for over 10 years and have never made it up to Vancouver. This race looks awesome and it may be the perfect excuse to go up there next year for a family vaycay.

wow, marathons on back to back weekends followed by one rest weekend and a 50 miler? that is kind of crazy, even by my standards. Rest well!

That’s so exciting! Racing is amazing and it sounds like you’re getting stringer and fitter every day. My next race in a 10km, followed by…the marathon in Oct.

Best of luck x

I have my second sprint tri coming up in October, and first ever half in December!

And I’ve just started doing Crossfit. How do you think Crossfit has helped your tri training physically?

I think it’s made me stronger and faster with sprints but I find the CrossFit training sometimes makes swimming hard because my muscles are so tired!
