I’ve spent a big chunk of this week feeling like a failure. I began school this week and the challenge of balancing a full school load, work, Ironman training, the dogs, the husband and some sort of social life left me dry in many areas. My workouts were cut short or didn’t happen. I woke up late Friday and had the worst long run.
Despite my best attempts, training sucked this week.
But today I remembered that there is still tomorrow. There is still next week and next month and so many days to make little choices and little changes to get me to my goals!
I’ve also reflected on what I’ve accomplished lately:
Like fitting in fitness while traveling..

and running a half marathon!

FYI I don’t have a legit pair of running shoes right now so I ran the half in the Reebok Real Flex Transitions. These are my favorite shoes for CrossFit, shorter runs and regular everyday wear. They weren’t designed for long runs but they held up incredibly well on that Vancouver course!

Today I sat down and mapped out my week. I took a realistic look at my commitments and scheduled my training so I know it can and will get done. Thank goodness for next week!
Reebok is full of inspiration (just check out their Twitter and #getafterit!) and they’ve really been encouraging us to Get After It. They sent me some gear to try out during my workouts and it’s been the perfect motivation to get after it just a little more each day.

I am very happy about the gear
I’ve been rocking the CrossFit Lightweight tank, regular fit Perfect Capris, No Show socks and NANO 2.0s!!

I’ve been asked most about the Reebok CrossFit Nano 2.0′s. I’ve worn them for several WODs and for everyday use and love them. They are super lightweight and minimalist and move with me during the workouts. Mine fit a little wide so keep that in mind when ordering.

What are you doing this week to get after it?

Sorry about your bad run – I also live in Orlando – I don’t think the horrible humidity and heat is helping – my running suffers in this weather! I’ve learned that transitions are always hard – even with the most well-established habits. Good luck!
I know you will be able to fit everything in. Just sleep less

Good luck finding that balance! Readjusting always takes time, and you’ve done so, so well just to not sit down and give the exercise a complete miss this last week!

Your arms look amazing!
I was going to say the same thing, Alicia! You go girl!
I do the same thing, sit down every weekend and plan my week. I use google calendar, that way I can view it online, on my iphone and ipad and it all syncs up together. You’ll find balance, it was the first week at school and a lot to take it and balance, but it WILL balance!
Thursday I was in a funk, lots of things happening at once and lots to do over the upcoming 2 weeks (plus PMS!) and though I managed to get through thursday that feeling hung onto friday. I’d planned on swimming and my goal is 1 mile, but I told myself do 10 laps then if you still feel blah then get out. So I did the 10 then figured I’d done 10 and felt ok, try another 5, Then I was half way to that mile, so why not at least try for the most I’d swam before (25 laps) so I figured ok 20! At 20 I felt WAY better and continued for the whole mile. Sometimes the crappy ones turn out good and vice versa.

I love the story of your swim! So true!
You will rise above last week & make this one great! I really respect you for all you do…I mean taking classes plus ironman training?! You win just for that! So be proud of yourself & know you will rock it! I’m trying to muster up courage to try a triathlon…the swimming part just makes me so nervous!
Wow, I must say – you look AMAZING! You’ve always looked great, fit and happy… But there’s definitely a bit of a transformation going on and it looks fabulous!!
Happy labor day!
FWIW – this past spring I finished my first year of a 2nd BS in a nursing program while working full time & training for my first marathon. It is A LOT – but totally, totally do-able!!
Hang in there – you’ll get into a routine!
Let me know if you want any tips! I’ve been reading for a while but haven’t commented before.
I tried those on in store and loved them… now I just have to get over the price.
