In a day’s time, the words “long run,” “swim,” “barbell,” “stroke” and “fuel” usually circulate in my mind. Words like “beauty,” “dressing up” and “makeup” rarely make an appearance. It’s gym, school, work and home most days, and how I look is on the back burner. But sometimes I want to play dress-up and go out. Sometimes I want my eyes to sparkle and my lips to shine. And that’s where Mary Kay comes in.
Previously, I associate Mary Kay with the pink Cadillac and my Nanny and aunt placing orders with their friend every month. BlogHer sent me a sample of some of their goodies to try out and I was excited to see what the brand was now.
In the box:
Mary Kay Lash Primer- I love the idea of it but didn’t notice enough of a result to take the time adding an extra coat.
Mary Kay Lash Love Waterproof Mascara in Black- Great for everyday use. It wasn’t very dramatic but added a little pop. I’d love for the bristles to be a little longer.

Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara in Black- Gave me the more dramatic look that we think of when we think mascara.

Mary Kay TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set- This is a big one because it fights lines, refines pores and leaves my skin super soft. I love how easy the two steps are. The first step exfoliates and the second is a serum with vitamins, antioxidants and anti-irritants. Especially on the weekends, I spend a lot of time out in the sun. I wear sunscreen on all exposed areas and reapply often, but it’s still a ton of sun exposure. I worry about the wear and tear on my skin, so taking care of it when I’m not sweating is just as important as while I’m sweating.

Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Rock ‘n’ Red- Confession: I haven’t strayed far from the house in this one. But I love it. Going from Chapstick to red lip gloss feels super weird. It feels smooth on and the color is bold. I’m still sticking with my yoga clothes and bare face, but I love knowing I’ve got extra tools in the chest when I want to play dress-up. I would’ve never bought something like red lip color, but I love it. Just like my colorful dresses or floral tops, these products add another way to express what I feel on the inside…you know, when I’m not in the pool or on the bike!

I was once told to keep hydrated both inside and out and that has served me well!
Very cool stuff! I have always been interested in Mary Kay, but never purchased anything.
And I tweeted… I think

My best beauty secret is to drink lots of water and wear a good foundation. Thanks for the entry!
My mother always taught me to moisturize twice daily and exfoliate! Avocado and oatmeal together also make a nice natural face mask.
Definitely moisturizing! It has helped my skin a lot.

I use a moisturizer under my makeup and switch out in summer months to wear a sunscreen under my makeup instead. It does the same trick and doesn’t dry my skin
I recently learned that it’s really important to use eye cream when you are younger to prevent bags as you age.
Greatest beauty tip: don’t stress. Stress is so hard on skin and can prematurely age you.

Never wear red nail polish without a clear base coat. I’ve learned the hard way — stained nails :/
Definitely use vaseline in a pinch if you don’t have brow gel
I learned this one from saved by the bell- makeup is supposed to look like you’re not wearing any- and it’s true!
I love using vaseline as a moisturizer/lip balm
