Christmas WOD

I hope everyone who celebrates enjoyed their Christmas! Richard and I spent the holiday with your family near Tampa and had a wonderful time. My favorite part was opening gifts with the kids Christmas morning. Last year we were in Asheville so I missed being home.

As sweet as the holiday season is, I’m feeling extra soft all over. I’ve skipped workouts to shop for Christmas presents and I’ve eaten far too many holiday treats. I’ve been getting by by squeezing in a little sweat time whenever possible- maybe a 3 mile run instead of an 8 mile run or some heavy deadlifts on my porch when I couldn’t make it to CrossFit.

Christmas morning we were recovering from gift opening and a huge pancake breakfast and everyone started getting ready for a big early dinner (because only on holidays do we eat dinner at 2:30pm).

I needed to sweat and my little brother Harrison accepted my challenge to join so we snuck out of the house for a quick, fun workout. Mom insisted we had to be back in 10 minutes and couldn’t possibly make it back in time so we accepted the challenge.

Here’s our speedy Christmas WOD. Richard coached :-)

Christmas #getafterit WOD

400m sprint to park

20 burpees

20 air squats

20 second squat hold

20 push ups

20 sit ups

20 second plank

600m sprint around park

10 burpees

10 air squats

10 second squat hold

10 push ups

10 sit ups

10 second plank

400m sprint home

It is so fun sweating with my family! Harrison recently did his first duathlon and I am secretly sure that he’ll one day do an Ironman :-)

I was excited to wear my new CrossFit Racer Long Bra Top in festive, classic red. I love Reebok CrossFit tops and this tank with a built-in bra didn’t disappoint. The long length is flattering and it didn’t ride up when I jumped for burpees. The built-in bra was comfy and easy and offered enough support for a WOD and shorter runs but I wouldn’t wear it for a long run. Bonus- it’s really soft :)

How did you get after it over Christmas?

I was completely lazy. Hanging with family and watching movies was about it.

Just FYI, there is a typo. My family doesn’t live in Tampa! Should be my family?

I feel you! I’ve been at my boyfriends families place for the past week indulging far too much (and loving it :) ) and haven’t had access to a gym at all. I have been trying to sneak aside and do quick 20-30 minute sweat sessions but have only managed 3 in the past few days, still I figure anything is better than nothing… Hope you had a gurreat Christmas!

Christmas morning I was feeling a bit soft too, so I woke up at the crack of dawn and sprinted three miles in 30 degree weather! It at least gave me the feeling that SOME of the goodies I had eaten were being burned off..making room for more, of course :)
